April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players who have earned medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross Tokyo for her third gold medal over the coming days. Ross hopes to win an Olympic first gold medal but she's also hoping to win even more. This may be the last chance she'll ever have to do so at the age of 39. But she's still convinced of winning top awards. Ross through NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing very well, or even at all, they could win a gold. "I'm also going to try a little luck." Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister resided in the area. Her athletic career continued at Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several different sports. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball, as well as basketball, track and running. In the last sport she stood out. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside setter and hitter at the tennis court, according to her bio at the college. As a tribute to her efforts, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. Her volleyball skills also earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman began their partnership in 2017, but Ross had been a beach-scene star for years before. As a matter of fact Ross has been a winner of several major tournaments in her career together with two other partners. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 to 2013. Also, she coached Klineman as well as herself. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be an impressive force on the international circuit, winning a 2009 world title with each other. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends that took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, edged each other to take home the gold. As fate would have it Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. In 2016, the duo took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross participated in the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from in high school. The Trojans had a great run for Ross at the school. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to make it back as an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans up to the summit and clinched consecutive national championships. As an individual Ross established her status as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the top female college volleyball players across the United States. Ross studied the study of international relations in USC. Margie Ross did not get to see her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001. Ross was an USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. This meant that Ross is still close to her deceased parent. Margie remains an inspiration on and off of the shore.
