Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and a businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independent Liberal news site and a TV host, author, and charity donor. Her birthplace was in Greece then moved to England at age sixteen. Then, at Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA at the level of economics. The first non-native English speaking student, she was elected the president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. She was a conservative syndicated writer following her graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a couple of years following, she launched an online voice platform that offered criticisms on political scenarios. It was her celebrity that brought in a variety of famous contributors for posting their thoughts about politics, news and other topics. Arianna became famous after she was elected as an independent in a recall campaign in California in order to take over the position of Governor Davis. Aside from that she also led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as one of the top women in the media, achieving 12th place on the list and in the same year, the Guardian placed her in their top 100 list of media. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her president of the media group that also includes the other AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos journalist, who is also a management consultant. Although she was close with her father, it was the bond she had with her mother that formed her entire life. In her earliest years, she displayed the leadership abilities for which she has gained a reputation. Her move to England came at age 16 to complete her schooling and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of The Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the first woman to serve as president. In 1972 she graduated with a master's degree in Economics. The years that followed her graduation, she became a TV host and columnist. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She began to write books after obtaining his assistance to edit.
