Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop stars: an artist who could successfully cross the divide between country and pop while sweeping the globe. Swift is shedding her country roots as if they were second skins showing herself to be the most savvy pop singer/songwriter within her generation. Swift is able to harness the current zeitgeist and turn it into her own. The skills she displayed were apparent on her first hits, particularly the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless showed a writer discovering her true identity and, in doing so, gaining a mass audience. Fearless was a huge success worldwide but not only in the United States (where it was certified as platinum six times for Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") as well as in Canada Australia and the U.K. and many other countries. The Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago consolidated her previous successes, propelling her into superstardom. In the three albums that followed (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012 1989 2014, as well as Reputation 2017, Swift's popularity only increased. That was an obvious indicator that Swift had entered a new pop world which she was able to fit into. It was not long before she altered her plan in 2020's more streamlined siblings the folk singer (and Evermore) and stayed at the top of the charts.
